“My 50 Most Admirable Hands” – Doyle Brunson
This is a great book that gives you first hand info from the poker champion himself – Doyle Brunson. This player has 2 World Series championships and ten bracelets to his credit and over 50 years of hard experience at poker. The book isn’t a manual. If you are looking for basic poker instructions you can try out other books by Doyle. This gambling book gives your real life examples along with some enlightening entertainment. You can use this book to help you get better insight into the game and understand on a higher level. This isn’t a beginners book so if you are not familiar with poker gambling, you might not get it. The book goes in to details of some of Brunson’s greatest hands ever. And great they are indeed. Brunson narrates hands he played way back in the illegal backrooms of Exchange Avenue Pool Room to the games he played head-to-head against Phil Hellmuth Jr. The book is quite fascinating and is a good read along with being informative.
Casino Gambling for the Clueless - Darwin Ortiz
This is a great book for beginners with a detailed playing and winning guide. There isn’t anything about the gambling systems in this book however what you will find is some useful and pleasant advice on how to make the most of your trip to a casino and some comprehensive advice on craps and blackjack strategy. The major part of the book is fact mainly dedicated to craps and blackjack. But you can find information on roulette, slots and keno in the rest of the book along with some brief guidelines on video poker, Sic Bo, Pai Gow, and The Wheel of Fortune. The book is easy to follow and isn’t cluttered up with graphs, charts or pictorial representations. Just read through and you are sure to get it.
The good thing about the book is that it is realistic and what Ortiz does is not make everything look pretty and easy. He tells us about sucker bets and why they are sucker bets and also breaks down the gambling system. He doesn’t just blurt out that gambling systems don’t work but he explains how each gambling system originated and why they are used by some players and they eventually and inevitably wipe out your bankroll.
The book is a real good read and helps you think along with offering you some great advice on blackjack and craps.

For one thing, this book is great because it isn’t long winded, it’s too the point and tells you a fact for a fact. The book goes into guidelines on 15 casino games and has a chapter on money management as well. The book is more factual than being a rendition of real life games. This book is perfect for a gambler who has experience and is trying to find methods to cut the house edge. After all the book is about ‘how to win at gambling’, so that’s all it talks about.
